| NATIONAL PARKS QUICKLINKS |
This is a nice quick one night backpacking trip that’s about an hour and half drive from Pittsburgh. According to my GPS it’s about 7.5 miles from where you park to the campsite. There’s well water and composting toilets available at the campsite, but the last time I was there (April 2008) the water was very noticeably orange and tasted a lot like iron. The next time I go, I plan on taking my water filter and filling up at a stream that you cross about 1 mile before the shelter area.
