The week before the weather was too bad and it was prime avalance conditions. Therefore the hike was moved to April 18, the day of The Inferno race. While we had to park about a mile away from the trail head and the large number of people on the trails it never got too crowded.
The trails had several feet of packed snow upon them; microspikes and trekking poles were extremely helpful.
The weather was a bit rainy at the trail head which turned to snow once we arrived close to the hut. Due to the massive cloud cover, we could not proceed past the hut.
