The Goodwater Loops Is a great trial with lots of great scenery. It makes its way around Lake Georgetown and will take you through 3 camps with running water (Cedar Breaks, Jim Hogg, and Russell Park). The rest of the camping areas are only accessible by the trail or by boat. They are Walnut springs, Tejas, Sawyer, and Cedar Hollow. The back country camps do not have running water, but are in close proximity to the lake and water can be filtered. The trail will also take you past Crockett Gardens It's like a little oasis along the trail. It is a protected area. There is a waterfall where the gardens run into the lake. We did not stop to check it out because we wanted to make it back to the parking area by 8:30am Darn time restrictions.
Keep in mind we decided to do this trip in 100 degree temps, Not smart, Water was an issue on day 2 because the silt on the west end of the lake caused my filter to clog really bad. We had to clean it between every liter of water. My boys and I really enjoyed the trail all the same and plan on going back in the fall to do it again.
