The trail is an easy-to-hike trail with few elevation changes. Grass is thick in some areas (through the open meadows). You may prefer to hike in long pants. In the forest, you have the opportunity to hike on a soft floor of leaves and moss. In the summer months the canopy of the forest provides a nice retreat to cool off.
This is a perfect hike for families and novice hikers. There are some wonderful picture opportunities along the way. While there are not views of the lake, the foliage and hundred-year-old trees along this hike are beautiful. During my hike I came across ten deer. Some of them retreated, while others carefully watched me as I moved slowly down the trail.
