Gila Granite Peak Hike

nm

Star Star Star Star Star

Distance: 15.4 miles

A 3-day, 2-night, 33ish miles out-and-back hike to Granite Peak in the Gila Wilderness Area of New Mexico.

You can add at least another day to this trip to cut down on the 13 miles in and out. Make sure you treat all water, as well as bear-bag all of your food. The suggested water-refil area should always have water, but from said resting point to the basecamp (about 9 miles) may not have water. If there has been heavy rain, be prepaired to cross streams several times. Look for piles of rock around the stream crossing, and the trail can be difficult to follow at times.
