| NATIONAL PARKS QUICKLINKS |
From our camp in Boulder Basin, we followed Dutchmans Trail to Peralta Trail. Peralta Trail climbs up and over a ridge southeast of Palamino Mountain, providing fantastic views of Weavers Needle, Black Top Mesa, and the surrounding terrain on either side of the ridge. It’s a long climb, but not too steep. As with most of the trails in this area, the trail is rocky. At one point early in the climb, the route takes a sharp right out of a brushy wash and ascends a section of solid rock marked only by cairns, but otherwise the trail is very easy to follow. After climbing up to a point where the trail seemed to be leveling off, we picked a spot with a fantastic view of Weavers Needle, had lunch, then returned by the same route back to camp.
