|NATIONAL PARKS QUICKLINKS|
Note: MAP IS BEST SEEN IN 'TERRAIN' VIEW. This trip begins by climbing 2 miles and 1,800 feet from Chokecherry 4WD road near Larb Hollow Overlook on Highway 12, to the rim of Boulder Mountain near Chokecherry Point. From there it wanders west and south through open groves of stunted Englemann spruce and pocket meadows. Following buried trails, you link Meeks Lake, Big Lake, and Pleasant Creek Lakes.
This route was supposed to descend the Bowns Point Trail about 9 miles further south (see unlinked waypoint flags), but trailbreaking the entire way and cliff bands in upper Pleasant Creek forced me to backtrack to Meeks Lake and descend the previously tracked Meeks Lake Trail to the Pleasant Creek/ Great Western Trail trailhead on Highway 12. Distance for planned trip (waypoints provided) would have been roughly 22.
