| NATIONAL PARKS QUICKLINKS |
So I'm working on getting my wife to go backpacking. I've gotten her gear, which she just got some more for Christmas, she grew up camping but had never really been backpacking so I'm starting her with a very easy trip. We went out to White Sands National Monument and spent a night in the back country there. It was a really really short hike, less then a mile to our site, but it was an easy start for her. Up and down the dunes was a bit diferent then some of the trips I've been on in the past, but it was very quiet. There was no water so we had to pack in all the water we would need. I think I ended up carrying in about 2.5 gallons and my wife had another gallon.
