A week in the wind river backcountry and touring the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We posted 30% of the pictures that we took at www.trailjournals.com/alaningayleinwyoming. I tried to write something under "captions" on most of them. It was very cold, teens at night. We awoke with morning snow a few times. Our big hike was in snow fields and near glaciers. What a great week!!!!! alot of trout, incredible views, and a great learning experience. A great week with friends Allen, karen. Lonnie. and Jack.
Summary continued:
Gayle and I (Alan) spent 3 days in Jackson Hole, playing in the Tetons and Yellowstone to get acclimated to altitude. Then off to the Winds!
We had our trail legs from the 200 plus miles in and around the AT in Georgia and NC. Then off to Pinedale WY to Elkhart, trail head to spend a week in the backcountry in the Island Lake area. With an excursion to Indian Pass (Elev 12,157). For one of the greatest days of my life!
