| NATIONAL PARKS QUICKLINKS |
After looking for some time for the right road (1st right after mile marker 5 on hwy 987 in Ky) we started up the mountain. IT was raining when we started our climb it turned to snow very quickly. The extreme washouts and small run off streams keep us on our toes ,trying not to lose our footing or fall.We pushed on until we got to the cabin. When we got there cold, wet, and tired. We found that we had other hikers on top of the mountain, about ten or fifteen of them. They where from Miami Ohio .They said that they were part of a hiking club.I will say that they were very foolish because they would not put up there packs or food but left them stacked around the porches of the cabin.Bears are very active in this park. They froze that night ,all wet and all. WE had a blast in the cabin.Lots of wood but very wet .
