Elevations rise up to 1,700 feet but these elevations are on Buttes not accessible by trail. Developed trails primarily are around 1,200 feet above sea level.
red rock

The red rock buttes are made of sedimentary rock, and the holes in them are formed by water. The red rock (iron oxide-hematite) of Papago Park was formed six to 15 million years ago.
