Mystic Graffiti Tag
Location: 33.3312073, -112.0606003
This photo was taken at one of the highest spots, accessible by car, on South Mountain. It looks off the south mountain, at what would normally be a view of the city bellow. The dense fog today masques the city, but accents the graffiti on the parking barrier.

Boulders and Desert Plants in the Fog
Location: 33.331234, -112.0605698
The Fog can turn a boring desert landscape into a nice shot because of the layers that it adds.

Beautiful Cholla
Location: 33.3312645, -112.0609589
Though cholla cacti are responsible for plent of flat mountain bike tires, and have some of the most vicious thrones to remove, they also have a certain beauty to them.

Winding Roads, Zero Visibility
Location: 33.3311157, -112.0609818
This barren road disappears into the fog.
Though everything looks neat in the fog, driving through some of these winding roads can be a scary thing. Normally this sign is not a nothing to fret, but when you can only see for 50 feet, you have to take it seriously :)

Desert Tree
Location: 33.3428001, -112.0464401
Though you can often find moss on boulders in the Arizona desert, where there is plenty of shade, it usually looks out of place. Not Today though! On the boulders at the base of this desert tree, you can spot some bright green moss.

Abandoned Hiking Trail
Location: 33.3428001, -112.0464401
Though beautiful, the Fog brought temperatures that were a little to brisk for the regulars that hike South Mountain, I didn't see one soul on these trails today. Though I suppose I couldn't see far enough to spot them if they were out there.

Cliff to Oblivion

I'm sure there is something over this cliff, but I can't tell what.

Along the Mystic Trail
Location: 33.3428001, -112.0464401
The Layers created by the fog are so fascinating. As it gets thicker and thicker. Here you can see a hill in the distance. Though the fog makes it seem so far away, it isn't more than 50ft in front of us.

Trees on the Hilltip

Funny how the ground just kind of disappears here.

Drought Damage on a Wet Day
Location: 33.3429222, -112.0441742
We hade recently had a long dry spell in phoenix, and though the damage has been done, some of that damage looks awfully out of place on a wet day like this

Stone Wall
Location: 33.3429222, -112.0441742
This old stone wall separates a parking lot from a trailhead. Though the construction of these walls is always interesting, it seems even more interesting with the natural wetness provided by the fog

Sharp Curve, Low Visibility, Empty Road
Location: 33.343399, -112.0472107
Though the roads through South Mountain are always fun, they are particularly cool when Mother Nature steps in.

Goodbye Fog, Hello Contrast
Location: 33.3429222, -112.0535355
Though the fog started to dry, the conditions left a great opportunity to catch some great contrast with the low light levels, but highly reflective fog above.

Goodbye Fog, Hello Desert
Location: 33.3430099, -112.0536804
There they are! The fog was so dense it had been hiding some of the giant saguaro cacti that you usually see. In this shot you can see saguaro and ocotillo bellow the rising fog.

Saguaro in the Mist
Location: 33.3431015, -112.0535889
This saguaro looks like it's had a tough life, it's not the most symmetric, but it's a good representation of some of the variety that you can find in saguaro.

Mountain Roadside Views
Location: 33.3284645, -112.0735016
The Fog has dried so much at this point that it now looks like dark clouds in the sky. This roadside view is still obstructed by the clouds, but barely. Normally you could see the city from this point.

Hills Above Into the Clouds
Location: 33.3284645, -112.0735016
This photo is taken from the top of Telegraph Pass. The radio towers that hang high above the Phoenix skyline are still hidden by the fog today.

Foggy Phoenix
Location: 33.3284645, -112.0735016
Looking back over South Mountain Park, and into the city. It is hard to see the city because of the fog's low visibility, but if you look hard enough you can see it.

Distant Mountain Skyline
Location: 33.3284645, -112.0735016
Here the shadows provide a nice variety in light between the hills in front of us, and the mountain skyline in the distance.
