This trail descends nearly 2000 feet in the first two miles to the Tucannon River. From there, the trail along the river is fairly level. The trip down offers nice views of the Tucannon River basin. Campsites near the river can be found often. This is a lightly used trail and is very scenic. To Trailhead. From Pomeroy, drive south 10 miles on County Road 128 to Mountain Road 40. At the Clearwater Guard station continue for several miles until the Bear Creek Trail sign. Turn right and drive .25 mile to the signed trailhead.
