I bought a new light for my son, who is a Boy Scout. The entire troop left on a hike at sundown, and a few minutes later my kid yelled he was going to run and catch up to the other scouts, who had already left. He had his new FlashBak Light on and ALL of the other fathers asked about the light. My son was the only kid visible going up the mountain. The light has a remote switch that allows you to see that the light is ON, and you can turn the light on or off from the switch. It blinks amber in color...which to me, is easy to see. I'd never seen one of these lights before, but now our troop are believers! IWe beleive it’s better to be seen, than not.

While trying to sleep in the backcountry my mind wants to stay in alert mode at night causing considerable sleep loss. I've tried OTC sleep aids and melatonin (3 mg) to only modest success. Any additional suggestions would be very appreciated.

Some standard things I ask include: Does your pad pad you enough? Is your bag comfy and warm enough? Do you create a pillow thick enough--or too thick?
