Backpacker's April Issue Now Online

Ladies and gentlemen of the Internets, I bring gifts: Santa comes only once a year, but Backpacker comes every month, putting the fat red guy to shame with the latest gear, news, and adventures you need to feed your outdoor cravings.  The April 2008 issue is now online, free, and awaiting your starry gaze.

Last month, we ventured into the hinterlands to find the country's best hot springs and secret soaks, and we even took you abroad for a geothermal trek through Iceland. We also profiled a pair of brave Iraq war veterans who conquered their injuries (one lost a leg, the other is blind) by attempting a tough summit of Mt. Rainier.

Gear geeks will thrill to our 2008 Editor's Choice Awards, which calls out the year's best packs, tents, boots, and other sweet schwag. Got a different opinion or a better buy? Have at it in the comments section.

Finally, our editors put their favorite gear through its paces in the Great Sand Dunes National Park, one of the most unique landscapes in North America. We web monkeys didn't get any souvenirs, but we did get this rad video.
