I'm going to second the request for consideration of West Virginia. The whole state is mountains. It's gorgeous here, with national forests and wilderness areas. A hiker's paradise!
I too was dismayed that our area was not mentioned in Oakland/McHenry/Deep Creek, MD - not even the WV area. Maybe no one knows we are full of mountainous areas and tons of parks, etc. I'll keep looking for an article - thanks for letting us give a comment...even if it's not a positive one. I do appreciate the parks you list too, just dismayed we are always forgotten.
Backpacker, this is not funny. I witnessed your polling of people on Facebook, patiently waiting...and you missed it. The perfect opportunity to speak about one of the best trails in the South/Mid-South/Southeast whatever - Arkansas. Let's hear it for the Ouachita National Trail, the Ozark Highlands Trail and the Buffalo River Trail. Shame on you Backpacker.
