Gear Review: Big Agnes Lynx Pass 4 Tent

A sturdy, lightweight tent built for a family.

$300
7 lbs. 9 oz.
Verdict
With a family of five, I’m always looking to carry the most tent for the least weight. But I don’t want flimsy (and expensive) ultralight materials. The sub-eight-pound Lynx Pass hits a sweet spot, with plenty of space for my whole crew, kid-proof materials like a 75-denier polyester floor, and a very reasonable price.

Near-vertical walls, a 52-inch peak height, and two large vestibules make it feel decadent, but it held up against sandblasting winds on a four-day Baja beach camp. And our gear editor’s family stayed dry through all-night rainstorms, thanks to the full-coverage fly with prop-open vents and plentiful mesh. bigagnes.com

Best For
Families who want a tent that’s big enough for car camping and light enough for backpacking
