Gear Review: Adventure Medical Kits Pocket Survival Pak PLUS

Everything you need in an emergency in one tiny little pack.

Sure, you could save some money by building your own safety kit from scratch. But miniaturization makes this pack so small and light that you’ll never hesitate to throw it in a daypack. You get a reliable thumb-wheel firestarter, tinder, signal mirror, a 120-decibel Fox 40 whistle, fishing essentials, and more (see website for complete list).

And unlike many competitors, this kit includes a legit knife, a CRKT flat-blade that fits nicely in the hand. It all stows in a 5.5x4.5x1.5-inch waterproof pouch. But toss in a compass; the included mini is too small. $70; 5.7 oz.; adventuremedicalkits.com

RIPPPP OFFFFF!!!!!!

To YDNTK & WTF --
You might brush up on your reading skills before posting drivel. It's a SURVIVAL KIT, not a first-aid-kit. If you actually read the description, there isn't even a band-aid. And NO little ones, you can't buy the individual components for $5 or $10. It's actually quite a good little SURVIVAL KIT, and a good recommendation by Backpacker. Survival Kits are kind of like helmets...only get a good one if your head is something worth saving. Just sayin...

Oops, last comment should have been to WTF!!??. But it applies to both comments.

Hold on a sec YDNTK: AM makes much cheaper kits that have everything but the blade. In this case the blade is more than half the cost (and BP magazine should have noted that). If you have your own reliable mini-knife, you can get one the versions without the included knife, just don't forget to put it in the kit!

For $10 I could make my own First aid kit!! This is a rip

Backpacker...seriously? I bought an L.L. Bean daypack that you said was awesome, which it was and won an award from you guys. It cost $69. Now you're telling me that I need a $70 first aid kit because it's just so darn great. I have a problem with this scenario when the cost to create that kit is probably $5 at the most. SCAM!!!
