READERS COMMENTS

I work in a grocery store meat department. Smoked meat will keep for much longer at room temperature than fresh meat will. It will keep even longer if it is in a vacum sealed pouch. If you leave the meat in the pouch without breaking the seal it should have no problem lasting three to four days in your pack.

So how do you prevent the ham from spoiling until it is time to make the sandwich?
