Keep your flashlights and headlamps alive longer with these trail tips.
Flashlights have the annoying habit of switching on when they bump up against something else in your pack. The kind that turn on with a twist of the bulb housing are less prone to sudden fits of lighting up. Three ways to keep flashlights from impulsively declaring, "let there be light":

Also, even in regular flashlights, turning the batteries around can cause them to leak... not good for your pack, or the flashlight!
Turning the batteries around can damage the newer LED flashlights permanently. Don't do that!
Flashlights rock!
