Prime time in the Rockies to explore the San Juan Hut System

Mid June is a stunner in these parts. Credit for this goes to the Telluride to Moab hut-to-hut mountain bike tour, which takes in the best. The route begins beneath the snowy peaks of the Sneffels Range, rolls through the high meadows of Hastings Mesa, awash with violet lupine and golden mules ears, and ends 200 miles later in the red rock country of Castle Valley.
