Take a stunning ridge walk in this glacier-clad wilderness park
North Cascades National Park, a wilderness park, is a superb place to be in the late summer. You'll find snow-free trails and mellow weather incredibly welcoming. For memorable panoramic views, backpack 10 miles from Hannegan trailhead to the Copper Mountain Fire Lookout. After mile 7, a constellation of jagged, glacier-clad peaks, including Mount Shuksan, Mount Fury, Terror in the Picket Range, and Mount Redoubt line the horizon. A mile east of the lookout, an off-trail route follows the ridge north to Copper Mountain, offering more views and soul-satisfying solitude.
