Already experiencing spamalot...would have hoped that this rag wouldn't stoop to that level...giving up on you <again>...

I don't mind the marketing or the mailing lists, it lets you send me more of what I'm really interested in. I can always opt out if it gets to be too much, but really, it's not a problem.

Count me in as another dissatisfied subscriber. I subscribe to the WSJ (paper version) and automatically can access and download articles. Same should apply here.

Backpacker - I am a subscriber - like your magazine. But it would be great to have access to the web based material without (a) having to sign up (b) give you my e-mail address (again) and then receive more SPAM...the pop up subscription request is annoying? there has to be a better way! - do you read the feedback?

Wonderful list of hikes. I've backpacked in several countries & the experience was worth it.

Lucky to have done a few of these - btw, for the everest trek may is good for the circus at base camp, but i hit it in december, and the trail was near-deserted, weather was mostly fine.

I agree !!!! I subscribe! and you still want more!!!

Ungrateful losers who talk the cooperative talk, but demand the completely commercial info mining BS.

Come on!! I already pay for the magazine Give us something!! If you cannot meet the bottom line. give us the option of a few $ more to have the on-line info with out all the BS !!!!

hmm, they put the milford track in there, its a great rack but there are greater tracks in NZ than the milford track.
The routeburn, the rees-dart, the kepler, hollyford. The milford also books out several months in advance.

I Love to Hike the Appalachian trail from Davenport Gap to Fontana Lake and Dam. This part of the AT is completely inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with The Climax being Clingmans Dome at 6642',Charlies Bunyon East of Mount LeConte is Also a True Delight.

agree with comments. The pop up is annoying. And being added to other mail lists is REALLY annoying

As a subscriber I agree with the above comments you need to provide a web access for subscribers and give us a few frills.

I too am a subscriber which is what brought me to the site to view the international hikes. It is too much trouble to enter my email which you already have and it is too much trouble to write this note, count me out

Nice presentation. I hope I can do at least one of these trips before I'm too old and worn out. BTW folks, entering a bogus e-address gets you the pdf without the spam.

I really wanted to read this, but I am unwilling to sign in and have my email address added to Gores mailing list. Very disapointing. 30 year subscriber.

Hi guys, I am planning on doing the Via Alpina next fall. I am in the military living in Germany. I have found that http://www.myswitzerland.com is a great website. It is the offical tourism site for switzerland. Look under the Interest tab at the top and it has hiking listed. From there it has a lot of great info for everyone.
Hope this helps.

I am interested in hiking the Via Alpina next June. The 20 20 hikes lists books or where to stay in all but the Via Alpina article (that was in Backpacker a few months ago).
Does anyone know of a book so I can plan the trip and where to stay each night (planning about 6-7 days with a layover day in Wengen).

Same thing. I don't want to enter it again. I'll skip the article.

Yes I wonder that too. I also wonder why when I am a subscriber, every time I open the website I get an ad asking me to subscribe which I have to close before I can read anything

I already subscribe to backpacker. Why do I have to re-enter my email address and create a new profile?
